SportsAid relaunches with help from Gyro

16 January 2006 - Gyro International, the integrated brand communications agency, today announced that it was donating £100,000 of brand and direct marketing consultancy to the charity SportsAid over the course of this year – SportsAid’s 30th anniversary

SportsAid helps aspiring young sportsmen and women through the support of individuals, corporate partners and other grant-giving organisations. SportsAid has been supporting promising young athletes for 30 years and has distributed around £20 million. It currently gives 2,000 grants per year across 50 sports, including disability sports.

Former SportsAid grant recipients include Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Matthew Pinsent, Duncan Goodhew, Dame Kelly Holmes and Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson.

Gyro has initially been working with the charity to review and redesign its corporate identity which is being launched today. The company is developing a series of fundraising direct mail pieces as well as new promotional collateral and will be offering event organisation expertise for a fundraising Sports Ball, to be held at the Hilton Park Lane in October.

“In 2006, SportsAid celebrates 30 years of funding Britain’s talented young sportspeople and this is undoubtedly the most exciting time in our history,” said Tim Lawler, Chief Executive of SportsAid. “Gyro’s commitment is a tremendous boost to a charity of our size and their expertise and professionalism will help turn our plans for 2006 and beyond, into action. They are full of energy and they’ll be great partners.”

Gary Brine, CEO of Gyro International, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our time and expertise to such a worthwhile cause as SportsAid. The charity is focussed primarily on 12 to 16 year olds and these are the guys who will be winning medals for Great Britain in the future. Having had the enormous thrill of representing my country playing ice hockey, I know that if the work we do helps just one person to fulfil their ambition then this will all have been worthwhile.”
