Gyro International wins further Sony work
24 January 2007 – Gyro International, the integrated brand communications agency, today announced that it had been appointed by Sony Europe to create an umbrella campaign for its professional broadcast High Definition (HD) formats and associated products.
More than a thousand television channels worldwide are already transmitting HD pictures and it is predicted there will be more than 100 HDTV channels on air in Europe by 2010[1]. Consumers are also embracing HD. It is forecast that European consumers will have purchased 28.5 million HD displays by 2008[2].
Sony has a range of HD formats to suit the demands of any production and budget from the entry-level HDV to the ultimate quality offered by HDCAM SR. Sony has been at the forefront of HD development for over 25 years and are already the industry standard for the professional film and broadcast sector.
Gyro will be supporting the marketing of these formats across Europe through on and off line advertising, direct mail, e-communications and web content.
Gyro won the business following a competitive pitch. Other agencies and fees were not disclosed. Gyro currently works for other areas of the Sony business including VAIO and storage products.
Darren Atkins, Senior Communications Manager at Sony, commented: “HD isn’t something to think about tomorrow. It’s already a reality. From feature films and prime time drama to commercials, entertainment and sports, Sony HD is the number one choice with broadcasters and professional programme-makers worldwide. We are looking forward to working with Gyro again to ensure that these messages are effectively and creatively distributed in the EMEA region.”
Matt Kitcherside, General Manager of Gyro International UK, said: “We are delighted that Gyro is working with another Sony business. Sony is at the forefront of the HD revolution and this programme will enable us to showcase the Sony HD formats and products that will change the way that broadcasters and producers make the programmes that we will all be watching in the years ahead.”
