Gyro declares a champion
13 June 2005 - After months of intense training and inter company hype, Gyro’s inaugural 10k race has been won by Johan Hult.
What was labelled a ‘Fun Run’ inevitably became a highly competitive event for a committed few of the participants. The race was completed on Sunday 5th June by well over 100 people and raised more than £15,000 for St Giles Trust, a charity which works with people in London to break the pattern of homelessness and crime.
Johan Hult, an events manager with Gyro explains, ‘Gyro as a company has a fit, young, athletic culture. The majority of us take regular exercise. Although the event was definitely billed as a ‘fun day’, there were a number of us who were training to win!’
The 10k event, which followed along the Thames footpath between Hammersmith and Chiswick Bridges, was attended by a number of Gyro’s clients including Shell and BT as well as Gyro employees and family members.
Richard Perry, MD of Gyro International’s UK operations, says, ‘We are very pleased with the success of this event. Not only have we raised an impressive sum of money for one of our key charities, but everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves whether they were battling it out at the front or taking it at a more leisurely pace.’
