The American Chemical Society lights up Times Square
08 January 2008 – Gyro International put its client, The American Chemical Society (ACS), up in lights this Christmas in New York’s Times Square with a huge Jumbatron displaying a 15 second video.
The ACS video has been created by a team of marketing and multimedia experts at the Manchester office of Gyro International. It aims to get more people involved in chemistry and promote the value of chemists while simultaneously elevating the profile of the ACS.
The artwork represents how important chemistry and chemists are to every single person. It pictures everyday items only in existence because of chemistry or chemical reactions, such as a plastic toy and a paper bag. The video was shown 32 times a day on a massive 20 feet by 13 feet Jumbatron.
The campaign ran from the 8th December through to the 30th December, tying in with the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA), which held its 86th annual dinner in Times Square on the 10th December.
Rebecca Feay, Gyro International Account Director, comments: “The ACS is a huge organisation that can appeal to a wide range of people. The challenge throughout the ACS campaign is to encourage a larger audience to take interest in a specialist subject. The ACS is stepping outside the bounds of their normal audience in a bid to promote the importance of chemistry.”
